Vesper

Of course I'd have a cocktail ready for our Oscar viewing pleasure and when I heard there was a Bond thing happening well it was an easy decision to make - the Vesper martini.

1oz vodka
3 oz gin
1/2 oz Lillet blanc
Orange twist

And yes, shaken not stirred.

The Danger Is in Maryland

With Danger herself in town we knew we had to come up with a suitable beverage to clink glasses and this cherry ginger concoction is what we came up with. Initially, when we thought danger we thought of setting something on fire in sambucca style but opted for something potent instead - like moonshine (the nearest we could get to poteen in these parts).

In a glass muddle 3 soaked in Midnight moonshine cherries

In a cocktail shaker with ice mix:
1 oz gin
1/2 oz kirchwasser
1 oz yellow chartreuse
1/2 oz Midnight moonshine
Juice 1/2 a lemon
1/2 oz agave syrup

Pour into the glass over the cherries and top with lashings of ginger beer.

Don't make any plans for the rest of the night.

Valentine Velvet Raspberry

OK so it's not quite Friday but how could I miss out on posting a cocktail on Valentine's day. Especially one as good and velvety as this.

1 1/2 oz gin
1 oz framboise liqueur
1 1/2 oz orange juice
1 oz fresh lime juice
Chilled soda water/club soda

Mix the first four ingredients together in a shaker with ice and add the soda water in the glass. Garnish with fresh raspberries
.
Goes very well with chocolate.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all.

Hot n' Stormy

Big fans around here for a Dark n' Stormy especially with Fever Tree ginger beer and we're huge fans of one called a Dark n' Stormier with an oz or two of Domaine de Canton added in. But on these cold nights this is a good one (especially if you run out of ginger beer!):

1oz Goslings dark rum
1oz Domaine de Canton
Lime wedge w/ the juice squeezed in
Hot ginger tea

Raven Cheer

It's a sporting weekend - the Six Nations tournament kicks off tomorrow and there's the Super Bowl on Sunday which was what we were prepping for with this drink as we'll be supporting the Baltimore Ravens. Come Sunday evening we will not only be wearing the black and purple of the team, but we'll be drinking it too.

For these drinks you will need to play with the ingredients below - I was getting various results as you can see from the pictures but am happy to report that nothing was wasted in the making of this drink. It is based on a Cosmo with the colors blue and red making purple. You can make it long (and I suggest this as football can go on a bit!) or short & strong (if you want an early exit from the game and pass out on the couch, which yes, I have done with football on the TV).

Vodka
Blue Curacao (add this little by little like a food dye!)
Lime juice
Cranberry cocktail juice
Ice

GO RAVENS!

This one ended up black!
