Red Carpet

It's Oscars time! While my stylist finalizes what I'll be wearing on the red carpet, I'm working on what I'll be drinking. I have my priorities!

Blood oranges are still in season and this is the perfect time for it - the color of it alone oozes luxury.

1 oz gin
1 oz Campari
1/2 oz Solerno blood orange liqueur
1/2 oz Lillet rose
1/2 oz blood orange juice
1/2 oz lime juice
2 dashes orange bitters

Shake all the ingredients with ice, strain into a long stemmed glass and garnish with a blood orange wheel.

I wonder will this outdo the Vesper from last year? Been topping the most popular since it was shaken a year ago.

Sicilian Side Car

Or a Sicilian Side Track - I have a post ready on how we used our Cherry Bitters but this week I've been thinking of a dear friend who is moving away from the area and in her honor I made one of her favorite cocktails - the Side Car. But why Sicilian? I used Solerno blood orange liqueur instead of Cointreau and celebrated my friend's Italian roots. (I totally made that last part up - I'm all out of Cointreau!)

2oz brandy or cognac
1oz Solerno Liqueur
1oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

Shake all together with ice and strain into a chilled glass.

Here's to new adventures and the mountain air of Colorado!

Nogroani

Equal parts vodka, Campari and Solerno stirred with ice. An orange twist would be nice.
There is no end to the ways a Negroni can come together.

Bloody Orange-ita

What if you replace triple sec in a margarita with Solerno blood orange liqueur?  Then add some orange juice instead of lime? What do you get?

A bloody nice drink, that's what!

Blooditini

Himself picked up a bottle of Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur at the weekend (we're suckers for a good looking bottle!) and with it being his birthday yesterday I knew it had to feature in a little something something once the kid was in bed. Handily enough, we also had blood oranges in - I love these bitter sweet fruits and adore their color. Drink wasn't bad either by the way.

1 1/2 - 2 parts Absolute Citron
1/2  - 1 part Solerno
1 part freshly squeezed blood orange juice

Shake it up with ice and serve in a cocktail glass.
