El Añejo
Himself came home with a bottle of Bénédictine and started the search for the perfect drink to make with it. We've had some experimentation but this, THIS is the one. Called Nouveau Carré in PDT Cocktail Book we only had Lillet Rose in the house (chilled as always) instead of the Blanc so we felt that justified a name change.
1.5 oz Añejo Tequila
3/4 oz Lillet Rose
1/4 oz Bénédictine
3 dashes Peychaud's Bitters
Stir with ice (no shaking required) and strain into chilled glass. Garnish with lemon twist.
Now he'll have to bring home some more Añejo - we're all out.

Red Carpet
It's Oscars time! While my stylist finalizes what I'll be wearing on the red carpet, I'm working on what I'll be drinking. I have my priorities!
Blood oranges are still in season and this is the perfect time for it - the color of it alone oozes luxury.
1 oz gin
1 oz Campari
1/2 oz Solerno blood orange liqueur
1/2 oz Lillet rose
1/2 oz blood orange juice
1/2 oz lime juice
2 dashes orange bitters
Shake all the ingredients with ice, strain into a long stemmed glass and garnish with a blood orange wheel.
I wonder will this outdo the Vesper from last year? Been topping the most popular since it was shaken a year ago.

Speartini
We've had one or two (or more) drinks this year celebrating FSU's season but thought we needed to revisit the speartini. As good as it is, with the rum and cider it's more of a punch really so I wanted to glam it up a tad.
2 oz Prairie vodka
1 oz Lillet Rose
1/2 oz Pama Pomegranate liqueur
Squeeze of lime
Pomegranate seeds for garnish
Mix first four ingredients into shaker with ice and strain into chilled glass over seeds. Yum! Will be spending the rest of the season drinking this and researching appropriate 'bowl' drinks.
