So once you've infused a load of gin with beets it's time to search for more ways to enjoy it, right? Thanks to the handy dandy search engine known as Google I came across this gem and put tarragon on the shopping list. To make the Honey-Tarragon syrup bring equal parts honey and water to a boil, reduce heat and stir until honey has melted, then add as much tarragon as will fit in the liquid and let sit for a few hours - even over night. Keep some of the tarragon leaves for garnish as I can't seem to make a gin cocktail without a herb apparently - check out here, here and here.
1 1/2 ounce Beet-Infused Gin (Beefeater)
1/2 ounce Domaine De Canton ginger liqueur
1/2 ounce Honey-Tarragon Syrup
1/2 ounce lemon juice
Tarragon leaves
Combine all ingredients in shaker with ice, shake and serve. Tarragon leaves for garnish.

Ginger Snap Side Car

I may have mentioned this before but one of my favorite holiday flavors is ginger so I knew I had to try this side car when I saw it for a pre-Nutcracker drink last week. Himself recreated it for me here. Too bad there are no molasses cookies left to go with it.
2 parts Brandy (though I'm sure bourbon would be good too)
1 part Domaine de Canton Ginger Liqueur
1/2 part lemon juice
Ice
Sugar and cinnamon rim
Rub a lemon slice around the rim of the glass and dip in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon to create the sugared rim. Shake the rest of the ingredients with ice and pour into glass.

Light n' Stormy
It's no secret our love of a good Dark n' Stormy - we've mentioned a couple here but a pitcher version grabbed my attention recently in Better Homes & Garden (can't find the link online to the exact recipe but the ingredients were sweet vermouth, lime juice and ginger beer) but I riffed it a little more. This was for four people and we had the pitcher gone before I even thought of taking a picture. Alas, no picture of the pitcher.
2 cups Sweet Vermouth
1 cup of Goslings Dark Rum
1 cup fresh lime juice (or to your taste - we don't like it too sweet)
1/2 cup Ginger Liqueur (we love Domaine de Canton)
2 12 oz bottles Reeds Ginger Beer
Lime slices
Oodles of ice
Add all the ingredients in a pitcher except the ice and stir. Pour over ice filled glasses.

Ginger Bells
Ginger bells, ginger bells, ginger all the way... ginger liqueur anyway.
Tree is up, there's snow outside there's nothing for it but take out the ginger and spice and start celebrating!
1 1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz Domaine de Canton
1/4 oz St. Elizabeth All Spice liquor
1/4 oz fresh lemon juice
Ginger beer to top
Shake first four ingredients in shaker with ice. Pour into chilled glass and top off with ginger beer (to taste). Now sit back and enjoy the hard work and a possible snow day tomorrow!

March on Washington
Lots of people are in town this week to mark the 50th anniversary march on Washington and we thought we'd mark the occasion with a little drink. What else do you do with out of town guests!
1 oz Makers Mark bourbon
1 oz Tanqueray gin
1 oz freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 oz Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
Dash of Angostura bitters
Reeds ginger ale
Mix the first 5 ingredients together with ice in a shaker. Please note the equal measure of bourbon, gin and lime juice - equality is important after all! Pour over ice in a Collins glass and top off with ginger ale and a slice of lime.
It was hard to wait for this one - I was barely able to take a photo of it . Maybe I should have told them to prove how much they needed refreshments and have them band together and march on the capital or something.

Hot n' Stormy
Big fans around here for a Dark n' Stormy especially with Fever Tree ginger beer and we're huge fans of one called a Dark n' Stormier with an oz or two of Domaine de Canton added in. But on these cold nights this is a good one (especially if you run out of ginger beer!):
1oz Goslings dark rum
1oz Domaine de Canton
Lime wedge w/ the juice squeezed in
Hot ginger tea

Ginger Wisp
Look what I whipped up in Wisp last weekend? It’s a riff on drink called the White Orchid found here
2 parts Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur1 part Absolut Citron2 parts white cranberry juiceLemon juiceWhite of an egg
For four cocktails I used the juice of half a lemon and the white of one egg. I didn’t have a cocktail shaker with me so I whisked it all together in a blender and got some really fluffy egg whites.
What was I thinking not traveling with a cocktail shaker?
Classy shot with the pot holder and tea towel.

Berry Merry
Whether you have a reason to get out the crystal glasses or whether you're like us and need no reason at all this is a good drink to put in it:
1 part Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur
1 part gin
1 part white cranberry juice
1/2 part lemon juice
Cava/Prosecco/Champagne to top it off
(Soda water or ginger ale could work too)
Frozen cranberries to garnish
Cheers!

Ginger Gem
A little ginger something for a festive toast during our Christmas tree lighting 'ceremony' tonight.
1 ½ parts spiced rum½ part Domaine de Canton ginger liqueur¼ part cinnamon schnapps1 tsp molassesGinger ale/ginger beerCandied ginger to garnish (or if you’re like us and don’t have any to hand a lemon twist works just as well.)
Shake first three ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker and pour into glass which has had the molasses twirled around the inside. Top off with ginger ale/beer and enjoy.
The molasses might need a little stirring towards the end and it really does give it a nice flavor. You can see the twirl so much better when I tried this with the citrus vodka. Himself approves of this ‘hobby’ of mine because of the trial and error involved. Nothing seems to go to waste around here compared to say, my sewing 'hobby'.
